Design Engineer (m/f) in Zaventem
XPE is looking for a(n) Design Engineer (m/f):
You will contribute to successfully complete Brake system and parts development through:
- Brake system and parts design to achieve target performance
- Reflect brake evaluation result into brake system design
- Coordinate development activities with brake evaluation team
- Lead development with related divisions in Toyota (e.g. R&D, quality, plant, purchasing)
- Cooperate with suppliers to complete development tasks
- Pursue cost reduction activities with suppliers and purchasing support
- Scout, evaluate and propose new technologies of brake system and parts
- Active benchmarking activities for brake system performance
- Work to constantly review performance in market towards improvement for final customer
Company:
Toyota Motor Europe R&D Centre in Zaventem (Brussels) is responsible for:
- Developing vehicles and making concept proposal for EU core models.
- Reflecting EU technology to Toyota Vehicles timely by utilizing location advantage and strong network with EU partners.
Chassis Engineering Division’s responsibility is :
1) Local development of Chassis parts for vehicles built in Toyota’s European assembly plants. This activity is done in close cooperation with local suppliers and mother divisions in Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan.
2) Investigation of new European technologies
The Chassis Engineering Division, Brake Design Dept takes care of “functional” chassis parts:
1) Design of brake system and parts (both foundation and control brake)
2) Evaluation of brake system performance
3) New technologies (e.g. for hybrid vehicles).

Requirements:
- Master in (Electro-) Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
- 2 to 5 years relevant experience in the design development of complex mechanical parts. Preferably but not mandatory, this experience is in the area of vehicle chassis parts (suspension, steering, brakes, tire).
- Engineering knowledge and knowledge of the general vehicle design.
- Good knowledge of windows tools : MS Excel, Powerpoint, Word.
- Motivated to learn Toyota Production System and development way
- Fluent in English (Japanese is an asset)
- Experience with CATIA v5 and FE analysis are an asset
- Willing to travel up to 20% of time in Europe and Japan
